Galley plugs, commonly referred to as “Barbells”, are used by the factory to divert oil to the factory oil filter and prevent unfiltered oil from circulating through the engine. The original GM barbells are a nylon material that may become brittle over time and should be replaced when performing a rebuild or upgrades.
